Washington Park. This used to be Dreamland Amusement Park built and used by Blacks since 1920, segregated by skin color. Had attractions such as a ferris wheel, rides, games, circus, swimming, dance hall, meeting and recreation. It was comparable to segregated Lakeside. All destroyed. Despite decades of citizens, churches and groups organizing for revitalization, unkept promises from city government and those we 'elect' in office is 'unjust' practices. The city's 3rd or 4th largest park, there's no justifiable human reason why it has no lights and no recreation center. This site is full of our local American history that one should be proud of, shared and taught in our school system. Imagine kids learning history. It's right here. A field trip to see, touch, learn about the original natives and how this was their hunting grounds and how buffalos and Elks roamed this site, the site of the first colonial immigrants settlement, how the Great Wagon Road was used that ran by this site or great war heros like Col Andrew Lewis lived on this land before relocating his family and slaves to Richfield plantation, men like the Campbell's, Powers, Bowers and Deyerle's became wealthy from e

Went to the pool today. Lifeguards very friendly and attentive and pool was clean but too many kids to relax as an adult. Also no lap lanes to swim and the deep end was no deeper than 5 feet. Probably a good place to take kids to relax in the summer but as an adult a little underwhelming.

This is a medium size family friendly park. It has basketball courts, ball fields, playground, bike and walking trails and a picnic area. There was some trash about the park, paved parking lots are in disrepair and there were multiple aggressive dogs off leash. This is a locals park and not a destination in my opinion.

My son said he thinks Washington Park is a pretty good park . I agree with him I think it’s pretty good he usually comes to play basketball. The neighborhood kids were extremely kind and nice to him , one of them invited him to play a game with them. They complimented him, said he is a good player. They wanted him to join them for another game . They told him dates and times they will be having games.
